Record · what the station keeps
What the email forms keep.
Undercurrent collects personal information in two places: the launch-note signup and the contact form. This page says what each keeps and for how long.
Launch note
What you agree to. “One email when Undercurrent launches. Unsubscribe any time. We send a confirmation link first; nothing is subscribed until you open it.”
What is stored.
- Your email address and whether it is waiting, confirmed or unsubscribed.
- When you signed up and confirmed, and the network address and browser string each request came from.
- Which version of the wording above you were shown.
- When each message to you was sent, and when and how you unsubscribed.
Why. To send what you asked for, to prove you asked for it if anyone questions a message, and to stop the form being used to mail people who did not.
Where. In Undercurrent's own database. Once confirmed, the address is also on a mailing list on DalosTech's own mail server, which sends the messages.
How long. A confirmation link works for 7 days. A signup never confirmed is deleted after 30 days. The record of a subscription is kept while it lasts and for 3 years after it ends, as the proof of consent, then deleted.
Leaving. Every message after you confirm has an unsubscribe link that works with one click and keeps working. After it, nothing more is sent.
Contact form
A message is forwarded from the site's own address to the DalosTech team's inbox, with your address as the one to reply to. The site does not store the message.
It keeps a log entry for each message — when it arrived, a keyed hash of the network address (not the address itself), the domain of your email address, and whether it was delivered — for 365 days, to limit abuse of the form.
Everywhere else
The dark or light ground you choose is remembered in your own browser and is never sent to the site. Questions about any of this: write to the station.
